#WeReady Disaster Kit
Are you ready?
#WeReady! The 2018 Hurricane Season is upon us and we are scrambling to take care of the less fortunate members of the Love City Community. For those of you who are able to provide preparedness items for yourselves, we wanted to make it a little bit easier to do so!On this wish list, you will find an assortment of items recommended for the first 72 hours following a disaster by Flash.org The more prepared ALL of our residents are, the more resources we can delegate to the safety and comfort of our whole community!
This is also a way to give back! Did you know that when you click through the links on our page to do your Amazon shopping, up to 4% of sales is donated to the long-term recovery and resiliency efforts on St. John? There is no cost to you at all to give back! Shop for your prep items here and save this link for all of your future Amazon purchases: www.stjangels.ngo/weready
DON'T FORGET! This is a basic list for the average individual! Please remember, if you have children or a senior citizen in your household, a medical condition or pets there is a much more extensive list of what YOU need to do to prepare: Make sure you have back ups for your prescriptions...Island Health and Wellness right here on STJ has some great plans in place for prescription prep. Go to Island Health and Wellness and give them a call if you have questions in regards to specifics of this process on island.
If you have a pet, stock up on plenty of food and double your back up drinking water. If you have kids, make sure you have three days of meals for everyone. Stock up on propane or charcoal for grilling and buy a few extra gallons of gas for your car, generator and chainsaw. And AS ALWAYS, get your generator serviced NOW!!! Go to Love City Strong Projects for a generator tip sheet!
Also, carry your insurance paperwork, prescription slips, housing documents, photo ID and PLENTY of cash in a water tight bag. You can use a zip-lock, but we have included a water proof/fire proof document sleeve on the wish list for you. And, as we learned last year on St. John, CLOSED TOED SHOES are a MUST for post-storm safety! Make sure you have clean socks and dry, sturdy shoes for everyone in your household.
Stay Safe everyone! And please contact us with questions, concerns or additional donations at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
