V.I. Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Council to Host National Network to End Domestic Violence for Financial Empowerment Training
The Virgin Islands Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Council (DSVAC) is pleased to announce that it will host the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) for a training on the Moving Ahead through Financial Empowerment Curriculum from July 9th - 10th, 2019. This curriculum tool kit is designed to help community leaders assist survivors of domestic violence move from short-term safety to long-term security by specifically addressing financial and economic needs and challenges.
This is an unprecedented opportunity for those that directly and indirectly interface with victims of domestic violence including, government officials, school system staff, nonprofit organizations, faith based leaders and many other community leaders and advocates to learn how they can directly help survivors of domestic violence in the territory.
This training will be facilitated by Kim Pentico, NNEDV Director of Economic Justice Programs. The “Moving Ahead through Financial Empowerment” curriculum was developed by The Allstate Foundation in partnership with the National Network to End Domestic Violence, and has been academically validated by Rutgers University.
Each participant will receive a copy of the “Moving Ahead” training curriculum. The cost for the training is $30, however, interested participants can become a member of DVSAC for $25 and this training will be free of charge. Current DVSAC individual, group and corporate members can attend with no additional cost.
