Eh listen! We masquerading dis holiday season on St. John. So, get your masks ready (or just your jolly ole selves!) and join us for a cathartic evening of good ole fashioned revelry. Masquerading is a popular tradition across the Caribbean and other parts of the African Diaspora. In the U.S. Virgin Islands, the practice goes back hundreds of years. We will go serenading through the neighborhoods with Mr. Mahlon "Koko" Pickering and other local musicians. The initial meeting point is in front of Mongoose Junction. (Update) If you don't have a mask or mask-making materials, stop by the Bajo el Sol Gallery in Mongoose Junction for a mask form. Take the mask form home, paint it, get creative and decorate your mask with bought or found art supplies, or join us at Julius Sprauve School for a quick workshop on Friday evening, Dec 21st! Come along.
